What are you passionate about?:
Let’s start with I’m an ER nurse. That being said, I am passionate about providing care for the members of our community in their time of need. As a result of my years in the medical field, I have seen that taking care of yourself on a day to day basis makes a difference in your health. So getting people involved in their health and fitness is a big part of my life. It motivates me to guide you to the best you that you can be.
What do you love most about coaching your members?:
They are a driven group of people. They accept challenges that we set in front of them and are motivated to improve. The members at this gym come in every day to work hard and to accomplish individual goals that they set for themselves. I can leave the gym every day knowing that everyone worked hard and am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of their daily growth.
What is your athletic background? Any notable accomplishments?: I played volleyball and ran track through college. I was an All-American in volleyball and All-Conference in track for my university. Starting in high school, I began developing my coaching skills with volleyball and high jump. I continued coaching through my college years. Following college I took on volleyball camps, individual lessons and became involved in local teams. Athletics has always been a big part of who I am and will continue to be a large part of my life moving forward.
How did you end up as a CrossFit coach? What path brought you here?:
I was on my computer one afternoon after a run and thought, “there has to be a better way to stay in shape”. I also noticed that I wasn’t as strong as I used to be when repositioning patients at work. I knew that with the population I see in the ER, if I didn’t take action and increase my strength I would end up hurting myself one day. That’s when I came across the groupon for Crossfit Aestus and I reached out to Sam. The rest is pretty simple, I started working out, grew stronger, fell in love with the sport and the community, began craving involvement on a different level and finally after shadowing and taking my L1, accepted a position as a coach here at Crossfit Aestus.
What’s your favorite quote?:
“Be at your best”. It’s a saying we used at my university. It doesn’t matter what your best is, it doesn’t matter if someone else’s best is “better”. It comes down to you. What are you going to do today? How are you going to make today your best day?
Is there anything else you want people to know about you?
I want to help you make a difference. I’m an open person, and am approachable. If you aren’t getting something out of class, just come talk to me. I want to support you in your work here at Crossfit Aestus, both in and out of the gym.
